DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Texas, is a nonprofit that supports Texas authors. Our strong partnership with Texas Authors, Inc., has allowed DEAR to create some great events over the past couple of years that have given our authors more access to Texas readers all around the state.
We are planning another event that we trust will not only encourage more Texans to read but also once again, give Texas authors more opportunities to market and sell their books. But, we need your help.
“Authors in the Park” will be a major undertaking that will cover hundreds of miles in all the major cities and a lot of smaller communities. That’s a lot of ground to cover and a lot of authors to get involved in this project. We are not asking for any financial support, though you are always more than welcome to donate to the cause or connect us with some great sponsors. What we need from you is some extra manpower and publicity in making this event a GREAT success!
While we already have a lot of authors choosing the parks they would like to be at, we want more authors to get out on Saturday, April 28, 2018, to a local park and read to people in those parks. We need help from you to get the word out and encourage authors to sign up and participate!
Publicity will also be a major aspect of this event, and we ask that you promote it on your social media outlets, in newsletters and with any media contacts you have. The more attention we can get, the better.
Also, we ask that your group be responsible for helping make sure that signs are out at the parks on the day of the event to let people know what is happening.
In exchange for your help, we will list you on our official website as one of the sponsoring writing organizations.
Finally, since DEAR Texas is the lead organization for this we ask that you use our promotional material and allow us to review any press releases you want to send or other advertising items you create. It is important to the campaign that we keep everything uniform. We will be more then glad to give you as much support as we possibly can to help ensure success for everyone.
Thank you for your time and effort. Remember, “Together everyone achieves more!”
